Classroom Committee Furniture and Design Review Criteria

The committee discussed ADA requirements. The committee wants to add the criteria that any currently ADA accessible desks will be replaced by new accessible desks, and that accessible desks be added to spaces that don’t already have them.

The committee questioned if added furniture, such as a portable podium, are included in these criteria. The criteria are focused on furniture that students occupy and those that impact the way teaching occurs in a room. For this particular example, Richard Rudnicki explained that it does not to go through the classroom committee.

A committee member asked for clarification on how furniture gets handed down or surplussed. Richard Rudnicki explained that there is storage of chairs, etc. for classroom use as well as carpenters that may have to tools to fix broken furniture. Both of which are separate from these criteria regarding the classroom committee.

Romney and AIH Post-Occupancy Survey

The committee discussed the possibility of using a survey similar to the Harrison Hall survey. The Survey will be distributed in late fall targeting both students and faculty that have used the facility. The committee is considering a way to also receive casual feedback.

The committee discussed potential updates to the math department this summer.

The committee discussed the lack of computer labs and printing stations in Romney Hall and the American Indian Hall. The committee recognized there may not be a need for computer labs due to the increase in personal computers but agreed that print stations should be considered by future building committees. To request print stations in existing or future buildings, contact CPDC for further steps and instruction.
