Capital Planning Process
Madison Graff presented an overview of the Capital Planning Process to receive input from Classroom Committee on how to involve the committee in the process
Classroom Committee can work with Richard Rudnicki to add eligible projects to the Capital Improvement Plan. For fiscal year 2024, the project deadline is this June.
The goal of the Capital Planning Process is to institutionalize a culture of long-range planning through the development of transparent and collaborative processes.
The Classroom Priority list from last year followed the traditional planning process and these projects can continue to be submitted under the usual process. CPDC plans to update the list this year and regenerate a priority list.
Classroom Committee Guidelines
Richard Rudnicki presented the classroom committee guidelines
Other examples of similar review criteria are wall wraps and bike shelter guidelines
Committee wants to be kept informed of updates to classrooms
The review criteria will be updated to include the phrase: “The classroom committee does not need to be consulted, but will be informed, for actions or conditions such as:”
Kris Johnson motions to approve the review criteria with the updated language, Rob Maher seconds. The review criteria passes unanimously with the updated language noted above.
Harrison Hall Room 107
The Committee discussed Harrison Hall Room 107 because a faculty member has expressed their dislike for the design of the classroom. The instructor has since relocated to a different classroom.
The Registrar’s office can find faculty different rooms if they are in a space that does not work for them
The committee questioned if there are other faculty who dislike teaching in the space
The committee questioned if the acoustics in Room 107 can be improved

Romney Hall Whiteboards
The Registrar’s office is seeking input before the installation of additional whiteboards in Romney Hall.
The Classroom Committee would like to be more involved in the classroom design process when new buildings are constructed.
