Enter a contest to bring the Princesses with Powertools to your Montana community in Spring 2027! 

The Science Math Resource Center and the Montana Girls STEM Collaborative are offering a chance for a Montana school, youth organization or community to win a visit from Reinvented Magazine’s Princesses with Powertools. 

What are the Princesses with Powertools?

The Princesses with Powertools program helps youth, especially young girls, get hands-on with STEM through instruction by their favorite princesses. The Princesses with Powertools program is adaptable to any age group or event. Youth learn to use powertools, identify STEM role models, and engage in STEM.Open a flyer that summarizes the Princesses with Powertools progrram (PDF).

What is the contest? 

Tell us how a visit from the Princesses with Powertools could benefit your community, and then choose one of the three group project options below. 

  1. Describe why you would like the Princesses with Powertools to visit your school or community, and how you could benefit from the program.
  2. Choose one of the three group projects below, and submit your finished work. (You can get started now so your project is ready to submit by Nov. 10, 2026.

A. Youth art project

Classrooms or youth groups will create a collaborative art project that showcaseshow STEM can change the world.Submit a picture(s) of your art project and upload it to a Google Drive or OneDrive folder. Examples of potential projects include: 

  • Painting
  • Sculpture
  • Figurines
  • Quilt
  • Mural
  • Drawings

B. Powertool project pitch video

Youth create a pitch for a project they can build using powertools to improve their school or community. Submit a Google Drive or OneDrive folder with a shark-tank style pitch video with your classroom, including drawings of and a description of the proposed project. Your project could be anything, but here are just a few ideas: 

  • Garden beds 
  • Bookshelf 
  • Playground bench 
  • Birdhouse 

C. STEM role models poster contest

Youth submit a collection of posters that feature inspiring women in STEM. Submit scans or pictures of the posters in a Google Drive or OneDrive folder. Examples of potential features include:  

  • You could profile local women in STEM from your community
  • Or, inspiring figures like
    • Marie Curie 
    • Katherine Johnson 
    • Mae Jemison 
    • Jennifer Doudna 
    • Jane Goodall 
    • Christina Koch

Eligibility

Only schools, youth groups or community organizations based in Montana may apply for this opportunity.

The person who submits the application must be an adult aged 18+ who has an affiliation with the school or organization. The person submitting the application will be responsible for overseeing the youth collaborative project and will be the main point of contact should you win the opportunity for the Princesses to visit your community.

Contest submissions are due Tuesday, November 10, 2026. Notifications will be sent by December 10, 2026.
